Strasbourg – Nimes
Strasbourg confirmed their very good debut of the season taking a socking win on the road, 3-1 against Tours. They were one class above and despite slightly domination of Tours they outplayed in many moments of the game. Strasbourg had a striker in very good mood, Boutaib scoring first hat-trick of the season in Ligue 2. They were very solid in defense – but this is not something new; same display they had in National in previous season when they promoted. But nice surprise was from the middle up front, Strasbourg being clinical in front of the goal. So we must keep an eye on this team who proved so far a hard nut to crack. Seka and Marester 2 starters in defense had problems during the week and at this time don’t know if they were recovered. Without them some troubles in defense
As in previous season, Nimes started the season in bad mood and once again we find them on last spot with only 1 point after 3 games. But don’t forget last year Nimes started with 8 points deduction due to fixing games. Monday night they hosted Lens and lost 0-2. As expected, the departure of captain GK Michel at Angers in Ligue 1 was fully felt, Nimes making an average game, playing something else of what they used to play on their own pitch. And this, against an overrated team, who, really, has plenty of problems upfront. Nimes weren’t as strong in defense as they were so far, making few mistakes and let Lens to take full advantage of these and conceding twice. They tried to put problems to Lens defense but despite a shot in post made by Ripart, Lens defense wasn’t troubled too much during all 90 minutes. Once again strikers Alioui and Sissoko weren’t focused at all while new comer Ait-Fana had to little time to show something. So, Nimes, along with Red Star, remains without a goal in this campaign. Harek will be back in team while Azouni was recovered also.
“Jamais deux sans trois” for Strasbourg. Perhaps. But something is telling me we will see goals here keeping in mind problems in both defense. So let’s back over 2.5 even in Strasbourg games this seems suicidal. gl
