PSG seems somewhat weaker than last season, the team is only on the third place in France and has failed to win the last two games in Ligue 1, drawing against Lyon and Caen. Draws have been a big problem for the French side, they have no less than 10 such results in 25 domestic matches. The offense is not clicking like it used to, and that might be a big problem against a team like Chelsea. On the bright side, PSG has played a bit better in the Champions League – despite finishing second in the group, they gained 13 points proved they can take on the big boys at home, beating Barcelona 3-2.
Chelsea has lost a bit of rhythm compared to the start of the season, they are not able to blow out opponents anymore, but they do seem to get the job done week in week out. THe Blues got two close win against Everton and Aston Villa in the last two matches, playing solid defense and taking their chances when it counted.
Team news & lineups:
Cabaye, Aurier and Moura are out for PSG, with Marquinos doubtful. Mourinho will be able to field his best lineup in this one – the only absentee is Obi Mikel.
PSG: Sirigu – Maxwell, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Van der Wiel – Verratti, Matuidi, Motta – Lavezzi, Cavani, Ibrahimovic
Chelsea: Courtois – Azpilicueta, Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic – Matic, Fabregas – Oscar, Willian, Hazard – Costa
This one has draw written all over it as far as I`m concerned. Chelsea is the better team, but home court advantage will go a long way to help PSG – they are yet to lose a home game this season in all competitions. Both teams are notoriously hard to defeat, struggling a little bit up front right now and PSG actually became a specialist in draws. Look for a close game that will end in a low scoring draw, more or less satisfying everybody. My tip is the draw. Prediction: Paris Saint Germain – Chelsea 1-1.
